Make sure that when you drop your car off at the terminal or have it picked up at your house that it has a quarter of a tank of gas, or slightly less. You want it to have enough to be able to accommodate loading and unloading throughout the trip, but since cars are shipped by weight, you dont want to add the additional poundage that a full tank entails.
Confirm if the service provider is offering insurance for your vehicle when being transported or not. Insurance is a very important part because if your vehicle got damaged while shipping to another place, you can be compensated for your entire vehicle damage repair.
Make sure the gas tank is at quarter-tank level or below. There will be many vehicles on the transport, and the less weight the better. So make sure your vehicle has a minimum of fuel left in it at the time of drop-off.
At the time of delivery, inspect your vehicle SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY and compare the condition and mileage against the Original Inspection Report provided by your car transport company at origination (ALSO INSPECT THE ROOF AND UNDER FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS). If there are inconsistencies, note them as exceptions and be sure the driver signs it. NEVER ACCEPT YOUR VEHICLE AT NIGHT IF YOU CANNOT VERIFY ITS CONDITION - without being viewed and signed by the driver, you have little recourse if damage had occurred during transit.
If you‘ve got a valuable bike, if you‘re shipping it over a long distance, or if it will be shipped through extreme weather conditions, you should use an enclosed trailer. Your motorcycle will be completely enclosed in the trailer and protected from the elements. Enclosed shipping is more complicated to arrange, since multiple bikes are shipped at once - you‘ve got to work around other scheduled deliveries. Open trailer shipping is recommended when you‘re not shipping the motorcycle very far. You‘ve got a lot more flexibility in scheduling your delivery since open trailers don‘t hold as many bikes.
When researching shipping or transport companies, make sure they are licensed and have proof of insurance. Read customer reviews for favorable shipping experiences or negative comments.
Also, make sure you have refilled all car fluids and let the car shipping company know of any leaks. Car leaking fluids such as oil, break or transmission fluid should be fixed. A leaking car can cause damages to the car carrier and the other cars being transported.read more
Before having the auto shipped a person has to take the time to carefully inspect it. This should be done right before it is dropped off at the shipping company. A person should not every dent or ding in the car. They should take pictures of not only these spots but the entire car as well. This will help the person check to see if the car was damaged at all during the shipping process and have proof to back their claims up.read more
